We attend and host various events throughout the year. We are available to perform or teach at private events. Please email us at madcapoeira@gmail.com if you'd like to coordinate a special event with us or share information about your own event. Any events listed on this page are open to all capoeiristas, unless otherwise specified.

Annual Batizado & Troca de Cordas

We'll be joining Prof. Brucutu and Prof. Pantera Negra in Chicago this September to celebrate our students' growth, new cords and titles for Tall Dude and Bruxa, and our official membership in the Grupo Capoeira Brasil family under Mestre Mindinho. We'd love to celebrate with all of our capoeira friends and family!

Registration for non-MadCap/Chicago capoeiristas - please register ASAP so that we can guarantee event shirts (deadline Aug 15) and determine space needs/limitations.

When: September 10 - 13, 2025

Where: (Th-Sat) Japanese Culture Center, 2940 N. Lincoln Avenue, Unit 2, Chicago IL, 60657.

Event Schedule: (please register and pay in advance and arrive early!)

Wednesday: 5pm Welcome open roda Loyola Beach, (no uniforms).

Thursday: 6:30 - 8pm Workshops, 8-8:30 Roda.

Friday: 2-3:30 Workshop, 6:30 - 9:00 Workshops, 9:00 - 9:30 Roda.

Saturday: 10:00 - 11:30 Workshops, BREAK, 12 - 1 Mestre Mindinho, 1:00 - 1:30 Bate Papo, 1:30 - 4:00 Batizado & Roda

Sunday: 11:30 - 2:00 BBQ, potluck Loyola Beach

Uniforms (white shirts, official abadás*) required for all rodas (except Wednesday open roda at Loyola Beach) and workshops. Event tee shirt required for participation in the Saturday ceremony.
