No problem!

Capoeira is a great way to get in shape, meet new people, experience culture and build community.  You do not need any prior knowledge or experience to start.  We have had people of all ages, body types, and experience training with us.  Everyone has something to bring to Capoeira and something to get out of it.

Your first class is FREE, and first two weeks are only $20!

Capoeira is not just an Afro-Brazilian martial art form, it is a dialogue between two people where students learn much about themselves while gaining virtue, self growth, and self empowerment. Self defense is just one of many focuses of this beautiful art form. Capoeira is martial arts, fitness, acrobatics, music, dance, community, culture, and much more!
In the roda ( the "circle" pronounced: hoe-da) of Capoeira, the capoeiristas (Capoeira practitioners) learn to set up strategies and distractions while studying and learning about their opponent who is doing the same in a game where the intensity of dialogue is dictated by them. Through Capoeira students gain confidence, become more expressive, and gain a sense of awareness that translates back out into their daily life. Capoeira teaches one to not only survive in the roda, but to survive in life. As Mestre Preguiça says, "Capoeira is the art of survival".

Capoeira classes begin with a series of Capoeira influenced exercises and stretches to strengthen and warm-up the body.  Afterwards the class continues with Capoeira movements and drills tailored to the levels of the students at class.  The class usually ends with a roda, the circle in which Capoeira is played.  Come to class prepared to work out.  A water bottle and exercise pants or leggings are recommended.  No shoes necessary.  Uniforms are available for purchase but are not required for beginner students.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
